Recycling Spin Discs with LaMotte

At LaMotte Pacific, we’re committed to more than just water quality testing — we’re passionate about protecting your health, your assets, and the environment. Alongside delivering accurate water analysis, we strive to educate and empower our customers with sustainable practices that support a cleaner, more vibrant future.

spin1Our reagent Spin Discs, while highly effective for water testing, are single use by design. Much like photographic film exposed to light, once the discs have reacted with water, they can’t be reused for further testing. After use, the small amount of water inside evaporates, leaving a dry disc that’s ready for recycling.

The good news? The materials inside the disc are non-hazardous, making the recycling process straightforward in many areas. In fact, in some regions, you can simply place them in your household recycling bin — though we always recommend checking with your local council recycling facilities.

Please note that some local recycling programs may not accept Type 6 hard polystyrene plastic or items containing stainless steel mixing beads. If that’s the case, we offer an alternative recycling solution.

Our Partnership with YCA Recycling
31
We’ve teamed up with YCA Recycling in South Australia to give used Spin Discs a new lease on life. Through this program, the stainless-steel beads are removed, and the remaining plastic is crushed and repurposed into raw material for new products such as concrete aggregates for road infrastructure.
